Early Years Foundation Stage

The HEARTS curriculum starts in the early years. We believe these are the most important years of a child’s education as they lay the foundations to enable children to successfully learn and thrive. Emphasis is placed on children’s personal, social and emotional development ensuring they feel safe, secure, are stimulated and happy. Our EYFS curriculum is informed by Development Matters and based on the seven areas of learning.

We have organised our curriculum to be progressive, systematic, sufficiently challenging and specific about what our children need to learn in the seven areas of learning, therefore preparing them for successful future learning. The curriculum enables children to demonstrate positive attitudes and behaviours through the key characteristics of effective learning.

The school’s curriculum starts in the early years. In each subject, leaders have broken down into small steps the most important knowledge and skills that pupils need to learn to deepen their understanding.’ Ofsted, November 2023. Stambridge Primary School
